Two Projects

Here is my new storage cabinet. It was actually fairly easy to assemble.
Ron's comment was, "At least a few words, in the directions, would be nice."
(Remember, I mentioned that assembly directions from IKEA are only a few pictures.)
Now I have more space for food storage and some of my kitchen stuff.
That was project number one :)

Project number two was a whole other story. By 11 pm last night we had a new computer plugged in and turned on. But...
no laser printer working, no label printer working, no place to attach a debit pin pad, no place to attach a receipt printer, no connection to the surveillance cameras, and my point of sale program copied, but not working. (We did have an internet connection :)
We solved a couple of problems today- but it is going to be a long week. Somehow Sam knew that his phone would be ringing :)

Our Weekend

We are guilty of adding our $12 as part of the $55 million spent on Men in Black 3, this weekend. We had our favorite, Friday night date at the drive-in theater.
This was one of the strangest movies I have ever seen :) I am still saying to myself, "What was that??"

Since it is a holiday weekend there was a long line of cars waiting to get in :)

We had to park right in between two other cars :)

Actually...this is more like what "our" drive-in looks like.
It was a great, warm night in Texas. Perfect for a "top down" evening.

So that was Friday night. Yesterday was a normal Saturday- I went to work at the store. Ron worked in the yard. One strange thing did happen though. At dinner last night, Ron announced that he was going shopping. Whoa...wait a minute... could I have actually heard that??? I told him that I would go with him...I wanted to see this!  We came home with new basketball shoes (you knew that it had to be something important), new shorts and socks, and 3 soaker hoses.

For tomorrow I have my "honeydo list" ready. It includes me, a new computer for the store, and 2 new storage cabinets to put together. (I will try to include some bacon, in there somewhere :) We originally thought that Sam, Audrey, and Eli would be here this weekend, but they opted out-- preferring the ward choir and some other friends, instead of hanging out with us :(
I think, Sam knew that he would have to help with the honeydo list :) The storage cabinets came from IKEA. Have you ever assembled something from IKEA?? Usually the directions are just a hand full of funny pictures. Hopefully Ron will still like me after that project :) And what can go wrong with trying to hook up a new computer and transfer data?? :)

Just Pics. for Me

Annie has these pictures on her blog- but I also wanted them here.
(Remember, this is my journal, and I'll get it printed)
These were taken when we were in Colorado for my Dad's funeral, in April.
The last picture is us and some of our best friends, forever :)

Lighter Stuff

During the past month we celebrated a life that had ended. We celebrated a life that was just beginning. We celebrated our mothers. We celebrated "getting old", with an anniversary and by starting to work on a retirement plan :) Sometimes all of this thinking and planning, especially the thinking, wears me out. Here is a post that is on the lighter side, because my brain is tired :)

Welcome to Bandera

Here is where we spent Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday...

The YO Ranch Hotel, in Kerrville, Saturday night and Sunday night.

Mothers Day dinner at a restaurant on the river, also in Kerrville.
Fried onion rings, fried shrimp, fried catfish :)

Welcome to Bandera, on Monday.

The front gate.

Some scenery. (I couldn't get a picture of the turkeys,
the roadrunner, or the jack rabbit. At least the sunflowers, the cactus, and the thistles didn't move :)

The front yard.

Imagine a house here :)

The back yard.

Some more back yard.

The river.

Turkeys in the Yard

Ron claims that he doesn't care what the house looks like as long as he has turkeys and deer in the yard and a porch to sit on. So he is happy. We will easily have those things. That also means I am happy, because I do care what the house looks like and sounds like I get whatever I want :) hehe Plus we have at least one builder that is excited about Ron's little underground "tunnel" :) The picture here is just the very front- street edge of the lot. I haven't been able to get a photo of the river yet- but we can hear it flowing from the road (which means there is a good amount of water there) We sat through bad lightening, rain, and hail, in the car last night. Despite the rain- we are making great progess with builders, designers, and brush hoggers :)

Blessing for Emmy

We went to Utah this past weekend for Emmy's baby blessing. We stayed with Ashley and Daniel. Annie, Alex, and the boys also came from CA- they stayed with Al and Micah. The weather didn't cooperate very well- cold wind blowing on Saturday and Sunday. We had some quality time with some of the kids and grand kids though. And alot less "airplane/airport problems" than the weekend before :) In fact we had two very boring flights- just like we like it :)

You can see more pictures of this cutie on Al's blog.

PS- Happy Birthday to Ash today!!! We understand she has a hot date with Jaden tonight to go to a movie :) :) We love you.

May=Paper Flowers

When I called Annie earlier today, she said she was making paper flowers. That is one of things I did today, too. Here is my "paper flower garden".

They are made out of two large cup cake papers- Martha Stewart (petal shaped) treat wrappers- and one small "mini" cupcake paper and a Rolo candy.

Grand Child Tree

This Thursday evening, we have a "ladies and daughters" meeting at church. We will be talking about genealogy and family trees. Here is my little table decoration- a tree with pictures of all of the grand kids. I made little tags and put pictures on the front and the back- then tied them to the tree with colored ribbons. I am also going to talk about getting my blog printed into a "journal" book. I also want to talk about a book I gave Dad (which had some old pictures in it and then he wrote some things about each picture)- we'll see how that goes- I may still be a little too emotional for that :(
