Move Schedule

Our moving schedule got moved back a few days. Ron and I were at the house yesterday- the main purpose of our trip, was to leave his car there, so that when we actually move, we will only be driving 2 cars instead of 3. The first thing we saw when we arrived was that the pool was finished and full of water....but the pump and filter were not working, so we had a pool full of "nasty" water instead of clean water. A couple of guys from the pool company came and worked on that. Then when the builder walked through the house with us- the painting that was supposed to be finished last week, was not done. He had been scrambling around yesterday morning trying to figure out what happened to the painters.Seems like they are not coming back- move on to plan B. New painters- but they seemed to think it would take them a week to finish. So...we are not loading and going now until next week. (Packing and loading on Monday and Tuesday- unloading on Wednesday.) Yesterday...I left Ron there at the house to meet with several subcontractors, while I went furniture shopping. (Much better task for me that what his task was :) Never the less, both things needed to be done. Now I actually have a few more days to finish up all of my loose ends. Okay...maybe not ALL of them, but a few more of them, than what was going to happen this week. I didn't take any pictures at the house yesterday. I wish I had taken 2- one of Ron's car, parked in the garage. (first time ever for Ron to be able to park his car INside the garage.) And the second one of a "toy closet" that we will have under the stairway. It will be perfect. I thought that space might just be an unfinished storm shelter. Instead it is all finished, trimmed, carpet floor, ceiling light etc. The perfect place to stash some of my grand kid toys, that I didn't know where to put :)

A Crazy Woman

Okay...I have to admit...I'm a crazy woman :)

I guess I can't just stop there...here is the explanation. Ron and I are too old to tackle this "moving thing" on our own. In fact, after we got a friend and his pickup truck to help us move a double filing cabinet and my sewing table from my store to our house, Ron said, "I don't care how much it costs, we are using a moving service". I"m pretty sure that Ron was planning on the moving service not only loading and hauling but also packing. But I just can't leave this thing alone! At first my motivation was saving money, by packing most items myself. (that might save a small amount- but my 'guaranteed price' from the movers, is in reality, not very adjustable for packing) Now, my motivation, is not moving anything that is not sorted, cleaned, and labeled. Most movers will come in and pack up each room, assuming that it will be placed in the same room, from which it came, in the new house. They have no idea what transpired here at our house during the past year and the fact that things 'got stashed' in odd places. Then boxes came from Ron's office, from my store, and from the storage unit. Plus our unload date is December 7. That only gives me 13 days until company comes and only 17 days until Christmas. I've got to have the essentials land in the correct room and everything else gets unpacked, some time later. I don't have time to hunt through 300 boxes of stuff to find what I need for company and for Christmas. So...I have been trying to eat this giant elephant of 'sorting, cleaning, and packing' , one bit at a time. Hopefully in the next 10 days, I will be finished :)
And if you think I'm a crazy woman...my mom is in her room, printing out labels on her computer for her boxes! hehe

Bunk Room

We have an awesome bunk room. Lots of things finishing up during the next couple weeks. And a move in date of Dec. 2. Lots to do!!!

Here is my blue ceiling- I am going to paint stars and clouds on it :)

Double set of bunks on both sides of the room. Twin mattress on top and full mattress on the bottom.

Stairs between the beds to get to the top.

One side has drawers for storage.

The other side has a trundle for another twin size mattress.

Each bottom bed has a small shelf at one end.

We just need to add mattresses, gray carpet, and red bed spreads :)

October Weekend in Bandera

Last weekend, the Andersons met us in Bandera to see the house, eat out, go to a pumpkin patch, eat out, go to church, and did I mention...eat out? :) When Eli is the only child, that is big enough to run around, he gets all of the attention- hehe. It was perfect weather and a fun "hill country" weekend. On the house almost all of the tile is done. (sometimes the pictures don't reflect the true colors) The counter tops are all in. The bunk room is a work in progress. The wood floors are scheduled for Nov.4. Carpet, soon after that. I am hoping to be cooking a turkey in my new oven.

We went to the "Love Apple Orchard" pumpkin patch in Medina. It was a fun place for Eli. (I have more pictures, but this will give you  a sampling.)

Master bathroom- minus glass shower walls/door and mirrors.

Eli and Papa on one of the unfinished bunk beds. There will a a railing on the top beds and stairs, between the beds on each side.

Kitchen pics. (Only appliance installed so far is the cook top) The refrig, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and kitchen sink are there at the house, just not installed yet)

Random- Laundry room counter, dining room window seat, upstairs shower (minus glass walls and door), upstairs tub/shower.

(Remember, you can click on any picture and it will enlarge)

Beige, Gray, and White

So here are a few of the latest pics of the house- for those of you who don't look at Face Book :) (I did put a few pictures out there on FB- but I try to not over do that) Mom went with us last weekend. So it is finally a little more "real" for her. She could actually see her bathroom and bedroom and sit out on the porch. Lots of beige, gray, and white :) There is a dark brown wood floor coming and some dark gray carpet. This place is amazing. (I am still waiting for someone to "wake me up" from this dream)

There was a small problem with the solar panels- they had installed the frame work on the porch roof- where they were not supposed to be. They will be moving those this week. Also coming...are dark gray shutters and a white railing around the wrap around porch, in the front. My beige color, garage doors were a special order color, but it was worth it.

Last week, they did the back steps and ramp. They still need to build the stairway from the top balcony to the bottom.

This gray/beige tile floor on the top balcony is beautiful.

Three of the bathroom counter tops were in- mom's bathroom and the two upstairs bathrooms.

One of the perks of 6 inch exterior walls is great windows sills. Outside this window you can see the solar panel brackets, that aren't staying there, on the porch roof :(

Kitchen appliances will be installed this week. My oven, microwave, cook top, refrigerator, and dishwasher were all there- still in a box :) Kitchen counter tops scheduled for October 14.

Here is the elevator :) Should be put together and installed soon.

Baby Noah Blessing

Last weekend we drove to Wylie on Saturday. Mom and I went to the Women's Broadcast with Audrey and Sam's mom, on Saturday evening. The guys all went out for dinner at Chili's. We thought mom was going to stay at Sam and Audreys, but she went to the motel with us. On Sunday morning we went to church and then had lunch at the house. Sam's mom fixed a great meal for everyone. Sam did a great job giving Noah a blessing. It was a good day- we headed home about 4, which meant that we arrived home about 9. So...very quick trip for us.

Good Thing...

my desk wasn't any smaller :)

Hopefully this will work well. Ron isn't a happy camper when it takes him 55 minutes to get to the office- and it is less than 15 miles away. We really need to get him out of civilization- lol.

Pretty Soon...

Ron will be able to work from home...in his underwear :)...if he wants.
I cleared off my desk and gave it to him, so that he can bring home another computer and two more monitors. This is good...he is really getting annoyed with the commute to the office. Besides, he needs to see how this "working from home" thing goes, so that he can do it from Bandera.

Cabinet Painting Day

Yesterday, Friday the 13th, was cabinet painting day. I would say that we have a few doors and drawers!
Everything looks amazing.

Here is my pantry- I guess you would call it "walk by" instead of "walk in". It is a 12 inch deep cabinet that fills up one whole wall of a hallway, near the kitchen.
Nothing will ever get lost way-in-the-back-of-a-deep-shelf :)
(The doors are probably laying outside, waiting to dry)

Here is part of my laundry room.

Here is the "slide" down the stairs.

Here is what Ron did while I wandered around with the builder for a couple of hours
talking about tile and counter tops :)

Finally, the roof is almost done.

I told Ron, as we were driving back to Katy yesterday...
I hope we are ready for what is "required"!
Where much is given- much is required. And we have been given very much!

Wylie Weekend

We drove to Wylie on Friday, Sept. 6- arriving in the afternoon- Sam, Audrey, Eli, and Noah were out having "new baby" pictures taken. We ate dinner at Pei Wei. On Saturday we just hung around together- Sam cooked bacon and pancakes for breakfast. Audrey, Eli, mom, and I went on a short shopping trip to Target. Audrey and Sam bought me a new camera :) We ate dinner at Red Lobster. On Sunday, we went to church. We got to see the new building that Sam and Audrey's ward meets in. Sam cooked steak and salmon on the grill. Audrey made "individual fallen chocolate cakes" for my birthday. On Monday, I went to the prom/bridal market downtown, Dallas, to order prom dresses for the store. On Monday evening we went to a movie theater to watch "Despicable Me 2". Eli did great- I think it was his second time to go to a movie. We were the only people in the theater. hehe On Tuesday , we hung around long enough for Audrey to go to a doctor appointment and for her to take Noah to a doctor appointment- we also had lunch at Chick-fil-A, in between those two appointments. Here are few pictures-

Some of Eli's favorite things- watching movies, wearing a baby blanket on his head :), playing with Daddy's computer, and building a house with his blocks.

GG with Eli and Noah.

Lunch at Chick-fil-A

Baby Noah.

We stopped at a really nice rest area along I45 on the way home :)

For Ron

To steal a quote from the Andersons..."YUP" :)

Labor Day Weekend Sept. 2013

I thought we were staying in Katy this weekend. I was going to start cleaning out the storage unit. Move some things to the garage and pack some things up. Instead, Ron wanted to go to Bandera. Now that he doesn't have any specific responsibilities at church, I think I may have trouble keeping him in Katy :)
I went to work at my store from 10-5 on Saturday, then came home and threw some clothes in a suitcase. And put some food in a bag and some drinks in the cooler- then we headed west. We stayed in a Motel 6 near Helotes. We went to church in Kerrville on Sunday morning. We went to the house on Sunday afternoon and this morning. Coming home this afternoon, we stopped at Bucee's. It was packed with people! I would guess, that they might have 30 toilets in the ladies bathroom, and I still had to wait in line. Then just east of Bucee's, I10 became a parking lot with bumper to bumper traffic. I bailed out at Sealy, which took us on a scenic route adding lots of extra time to our drive :(

Here is Ron in his swimming pool :)

Here, I am in my kitchen :)

We were surprised that half of the trim was in and almost all of the cabinets were in. All of the inside doors- except the special order ones- are hung. All of the cabinets and trim will be painted an ivory color. The small doors without wood, will have glass in them. The cabinet that I am standing next to, will have the microwave and oven in it.
Behind the half wall is the sink and the dishwasher.

They haven't finished the roof yet. The builder is having a few problems with the roofer and getting the gray metal materials.
Here is a picture of the front of the house, from a new angle :)
(Usually I am taking pictures from the other side/front.)

Only the Andersons and the Petes will appreciate this picture- they saw this part of the river- in the park- when they were there in April. I think it is a bit DRY in Texas! What was a pretty nice fishing hole and small creek, is almost completely dry. (You can see the small building on the cliff, near the river.) Needless to say, the river behind our house has been completely dry all year.
