Online Idea

Here is a website that lets parents set up an online job chart for kids. (thanks Shyla) It has a video explaining how it works and there is a link to a Parenting Blog. The kids earn points and then they can save those, share those, or spend those. Seems like a good idea to me. Our grand kids are still (a tad bit :) young- but soon they could do this. I guess it also teaches on line shopping, if they decide to "spend" their points (of course those points need to be translated into $)- but on line shopping is something they should probably know anyway. Remember our lives are computer centered! (one of those good/evil things :) Check it out and see what you think.

Snow and UPS

Thanks to the snow storms, The Silver Hanger has a wedding dress stuck in Stafford, Texas. (that one should be out for delivery soon- Stafford is always the last stop, before delivery. But it has been there since last Thursday) A pair of shoes stuck in Dallas, Texas. (those have been there since last Wednesday) 3 wedding dresses stuck in Mesquite, Texas. (at least those made a little progress- they were stuck in Oklahoma City) And prom dresses stuck in Jackson, Miss. (not sure exactly how those got there :) Life's little inconveniences. Actually, I am counting my blessings for living in southern Texas right now. Other people are suffering LARGE inconveniences, with more snow coming.   

One-Date Month

Normally Ron and I have a "date night" each Friday evening. Somewhere along the line I made the comment that, "I don't cook on Friday". I guess that stuck, because we almost always go out for dinner on Fridays. I think it has something to do with the pace that my life runs between Saturday and Thursday- somehow I am always "running on low" by Friday and have rarely thought about "what's for dinner" :) But...this month is Valentines Day and Ron's birthday. Because of the (somewhat pricey) tickets I bought for his birthday gift, we will only be going on one date this month. We will be going out on Valentines Day for his Birthday!! I knew that as soon as he looked at the credit card statement, he would be asking about that particular charge. (Actually, he knew right away that maybe he shouldn't be asking me any questions.) He will be taking me to the Houston Rockets/Denver Nuggets game. He doesn't even have to worry about what to do for Valentines day now. Perfect date to take care of two events :)
Who knows, maybe it will be an exciting game and some one will hit a home run. Oh..... wait a minute......or is it score a touchdown??
