Sewing Projects and BBB
My sewing and alteration business is part of my Brown Baby Bird business. I bring in good money on the sewing and alterations, to pay for the baby part of the business- lol 😉😏Here are a few pics of my latest sewing projects and then a few pics from BBB. I did alterations on a wedding gown and added new sleeves on it. I made a "wicked" Halloween dress. I found a pattern for another dress, that I had to modify to come up with the two sides of the dress... the pink side and the green side. And I am just finishing up a "gold anniversary" dress. On that dress, I had two patterns. One for the basic dress and one for the sleeves. On the basic dress I needed to raise the neckline and omit the gathered fabric at the waist. I was able to use the decorative edge of the lace fabric at the waist and on the sleeves. As for Brown Baby Bird, I have tons of cute stuffed animals and fabric just waiting to be made. The picture of the cabinet full of stuffed animals, isn't even all of them- lol. (I also have a package that hasn't been unpacked yet and a couple of plastic bins full in my sewing room.) And I have fabric "stacked" in my sewing room, just waiting for me. The problem with my sewing/alterations is that I don't have time for anything else 😉. Luckily, I had lots of Christmas sets already done to carry me through this holiday season. My booths at Homestead Handcrafts and Alamo Craft Company are well stocked, just waiting for customers. I am hoping that in December and January my sewing/alterations will slow down, and I can get new inventory made.

Laundry and Towels
A funny story on Ron. One day Ron came walking out of the laundry room with my bucket of wool dryer balls. He said, "What are these for?" I explained what they were for. There are quite a few things around here that he just doesn't need to think about. Laundry is one of those things. He thinks that his clean clothes and towels just show up back in the closet or the bathroom, like magic. lol 😁We need to hope that he doesn't actually try to do the laundry, because he will never figure out that the washing detergent is the small "sheets" in the other container that sits on top of the dryer. Then speaking of towels... I have a story for that too. All of the towels that we have been using are at least 12 years old and maybe even older than that, if they came from Katy. Since any kind of change is bad for Ron... I warned him that I might start replacing some of the old towels. I bought two towels online from the website where I have been buying kitchen and bathroom hand towels. It was a good thing, I only bought two, because I didn't like them very much and he really didn't like the one in his bathroom. For one thing, it was larger than what he was used to. I ended up purchasing four other new towels from the Home Goods store. (So, there were three new towels in the closet in Ron's bathroom.) On a Wednesday evening a couple of weeks ago, someone from the YM presidency asked Ron and me to do a youth lesson about missionary work and tell our conversion story and how we joined the church. To make a long story short... in the middle of that lesson, Ron started talking about always drying out his shower after he uses it. He described how the towels are stacked in the closet and how he always uses one from the bottom of the stack and how I always put the clean ones on the top of the stack. Then he described how some new towels showed up there and how much he didn't like the one that he used. Three times he said, "that was his fault for not communicating with me about not liking that towel." lol 😕😝 What did that whole story have to do with the missionaries and our conversion story?? I had no idea. Until... the next day, I went back and looked at the original instructions that we were given for our lesson. It said to talk about the impact of missionary work on our family. Other topics might include a relationship with a mission companion, or spouse, or our relationship with Heavenly Father. Ron's towel story was about his relationship with me... it's just that no one knew that. haha. The youth are probably still wondering what the purpose of that story was. The moral of this story is that you never know exactly how Ron's brain will "translate" things 😉
New Things are Here
I did a previous post called "New Things Coming" ... I put pics there of a new light fixtures. Now I have my new kitchen counter tops, sink, and faucet. I originally wanted quartz... but Ron insisted on laminate. That saved us a bunch of money, and at least I got a new color 😉😎 It turned out great. They cut one piece the wrong size, so I still have one brown corner. But that should be resolved soon. The gentleman that works for Ceja did a really good job on the plumbing for the sink. (He also installed a new disposal. Ron was not wanting that- he thought we had already replaced that, but it was the old, original disposal. It made sense to replace it.) He also replaced the valves for the hot and cold water. Here are pics of the process and the finished ones. On the bar top near the sink, the installer took off the old laminate and recovered the wood with the new laminate. That process didn't tear up the bead board that Daniel had installed. What we did to prep was empty out the bottom cabinets, removed the drawers, and pulled the stove out. The new color makes the kitchen look bigger and brighter and cleaner. The upper cabinets are painted SW Dover White; the bottom cabinets are SW Jasper Stone. The counter tops are Wilsonart White Tigris. The sink is Karran, white quartz. The counter tops look white in the pics, but it is actually a light gray/tan color.
