July 29, 2014

Mom started chemo treatments again today. She had her first round of chemo treatments in Houston. After we moved to Bandera, and she got started with a primary care doctor and an oncologist here- they discovered that the cancer had come back and was also in her brain. We thought we were going for an appointment the end of March, to start chemo then. But it was more important for her to have radiation treatments at that point. She went for radiation treatments- once a day for two weeks, in April. Her hair had come back from the first chemo treatments and the radiation caused it to fall out again. Then she started chemo again today. (The first 6 pics. here are from the radiation, that I missed earlier in the year.) This round of chemo would prove to be too much for her. (She completed 4 treatments- July 29, August 20, September 17, and October 14.) Then she had to stop, because she was too weak to be able to walk or move around on her own. After the treatment in September, she also had a leg infection and a blood clot in her lung- both things a result of immobility and weakness.

July 21 Hailey's Party

The Pete's arrived...Ron went to pick them up from the airport...while I got a " Frozen Princess Party" ready for Hailey. I had been working all week on food, decorations, and gifts. It was great to see her face when she came in the house and realized that it was a "Birthday Party"! It was just Ashley and the kids on Monday... on Sunday July 27th, Daniel arrived to surprise Ashley. Again, Eli got some great COUSIN TIME with Hailey, Jaden, and Mason.

Wednesday July 9

Last trip to Katy to load up the store and close it up. Ken, Maria, and Dary came to help. Good thing I didn't get a smaller truck. We loaded all of the furniture and boxes on the bottom and then "stuffed" to the top with dresses in heavy plastic bags. It was a hard day on Ron- he had good help loading...but only me to help unload. Sam helped him with some of the larger items. Everything went various places at our house- some inside, some in the garage, and some in the storage room. It took lots of trips in the elevator to get all of the dresses upstairs.

June 25- July 4

Mike arrived late on Wednesday, June 25 and Carrie and the boys arrived soon after. Nicholas and Ryan would spend the first week of July with us while Mike and Carrie vacationed in Mexico. Mike and Carrie arrived back on Friday evening, July 4. Noah and Eli were also here then, for some great cousin time together. Bandera introduced the kids to cowboy hats and rodeo :)

Friday, June 20

The Andersons moved in with us...in the "Anderson Suite" :) We were hoping that Sam could work from home (Ron's office), but our internet connection proved to be too poor for his work. He and Audrey would spend the next couple of months commuting to San Antonio to get their work done. Since we had almost all of the other grandkids visit sometime during the summer, Eli got some great cousin time. (and Noah... but Noah was probably too young to appreciate the experience). Sam and Audrey made an offer on one new house to be built, but then canceled that offer and purchased another home. Lexi Barton came during the rest of June and all of July to help with the kids.

Thursday June 19

After we got back from the wedding, Alison stayed until Thursday, June 12. So she got a few days with us and Sam and Audrey. On Thursday, June 19, Ron and I drove to Katy. Three men from our ward there, came and helped Ron take down all of the fixtures, racks, mirrors, and outdoor sign. Dary helped me box up most of the rest of inventory items. We cleaned and then planned to come back another day in July to actually "load and move". Earlier, I had taken many pictures of all of the furniture and fixtures that were for sale. I included a few of those pictures here, just to help me remember how the store was arranged. Luckily there was another store opening up there in Katy and they purchased most of my items on a package deal. I didn't get pictures of dismantling the inside of the store, but we were very grateful for the help that arrived.
