Grandpa Bob

We all called my Dad, Grandpa Bob. Yesterday, I finished a little project that I have been working on, to remember him. The last time I saw him was at the 4th of July last year. It was a great time at "Grandpa Bob's ranch" in Colorado. Some of our kids and grandkids were also there. I put together a picture collage of that time there. Even the red, white, and blue theme of July 4th, has significance. Dad was very patriotic, loved his country, and served in the army. MaryAnn was given an American flag as a symbol of those things. Dad loved to wear a ball cap that let people know that he had served his country. On the Saturday, that we were there, we went into Red Feather for lunch and to see the craft show there. We had lunch that Dad's church provided for the community. At the craft show I purchased a handmade silver star ornament. At the time it seemed rather frivilous, to buy a cute little silver ornament. But now, I am so glad that I have it. It is my token of that weekend - not knowing at the time, that it would be the last time I would see my Dad, here on earth. In my collage, is a picture of Dad on his "mule" cart, a picture of the geese on the lake, a family picture, a great picture of the lake at sunrise, a couple of other photos, a sign from the lunch at Red Feather, and my silver star, with a little red, white, and blue trim.  I am also going to put together some little mini albums with photos of that weekend. I couldn't fit everything I wanted into this collage :) And I want all of the girls to have an album, in remembrance, of the that time there, too.
I have been reading a book, that has helped me understand Dad's death. I'm glad that I was there for his 80th birthday (in April 2011) and for this weekend in July, and after that, I spoke to him almost every Sunday night. I wish that on that last Sunday morning, he would have had the thought that I would be calling him later that day, but that was not to be. Father's Day this year was a very sad day. And now there are fires burning near the ranch, that we are watching. But I'll hang on to what I have and keep some wonderful memories.

Grad Gift Idea

Here is an idea for a graduation gift. It is a fun idea for the "gals" on your list. Even though it would be useful for the "guys" on your list- it's just too cute for them :)

You will need:

A plastic container or tote.
(this one has a lid, but after I filled it- the lid can't be used on it)

Some laundry items- small box of dryer sheets, small bottle of fabric softener, small bottle of laundry soap, a lingerie bag, and a laundry bag.

Another small plastic container or jar,
AND
2 rolls of quarters, 1 dime, and 2 pennies- 20 dollars and 12 cents.

I made a cute tag for the money jar, that says,
"Celebrating your Graduation with something practical and
with $20.12."
I put the 12 cents in it's own small plastic bag with another tag attached.

Then put everything in the plastic container or tote.

In case you don't need a graduation gift idea for this year- the same idea is still good- just change the amount of money to match the year.

Two Projects

Here is my new storage cabinet. It was actually fairly easy to assemble.
Ron's comment was, "At least a few words, in the directions, would be nice."
(Remember, I mentioned that assembly directions from IKEA are only a few pictures.)
Now I have more space for food storage and some of my kitchen stuff.
That was project number one :)

Project number two was a whole other story. By 11 pm last night we had a new computer plugged in and turned on. But...
no laser printer working, no label printer working, no place to attach a debit pin pad, no place to attach a receipt printer, no connection to the surveillance cameras, and my point of sale program copied, but not working. (We did have an internet connection :)
We solved a couple of problems today- but it is going to be a long week. Somehow Sam knew that his phone would be ringing :)
