Three Tidbits :)

I have figured out why Ron and I still like each other...and why we have stayed together for so long...almost every night I hold his hand (or arm) so that he doesn't float away from me- hehe.

Encouragement for us all...

Life would be easy...if it weren't so hard- hehe

Life Without a Plan

Most days, now, I get up without a specific plan for the day. hehe
There are certain things that need to get done each week. There are some days that we have a particular appointment or other commitment to make. But most days...I just go with the flow. I have decided that my best plan, is to get up, take a shower, and get dressed. If I do that first, then the rest of the day, I am ready for "whatever". Did I already mention that most days there is no alarm clock set either. (The regular exception to that is Sundays. Occasionally there will be a day, here and there that require an alarm clock, but normally not)When I say, "get dressed" my normal attire is my sweat pants. I have actually been thinking that I might need a "dressy" pair of sweat pants (if that exists) ;) It used to be that I would never let myself be seen in public in my sweat pants. I have decided that some where along the way there is a particular age that we all reach- where we are willing to be seen in almost anything. I guess I crossed that point a while back. hehe We do try to plan our "trips to town" now, just to cut back on a little of the driving. Everything, besides Bandera is 30 miles away. (Honda to the south, Kerrville to the north, Boerne to the northeast, and Helotes to the east- all 30 miles.) Some days the internet connection is frustrating- then, by default,  I just leave the computer alone, on those days. Other days, Ron, mom, and I are perfectly happy to go to our separate rooms, and spend hours on the computer. I spend quite a bit of time each week planning a Sunday school lesson (Old Testament). Of course there is the usual cooking, cleaning, and laundry to do. And I still have certain things that need to be done for the store. Then after that...I'm like what should I do today?? Work outside, unpack a box, hang something on the wall, read a book, watch TV, exercise, work on a sewing project, create something, etc, etc. It's like I am living life without a plan. I guess that is what retirement and old age are. I have been wondering how I would manage that. hehe

Beige, Gray and RED

They came and installed some window blinds today. I now have 2 rooms that aren't just beige and gray- I went crazy with a little RED :) "Sangria" in the bunk room and "Red Pepper" in my office. I wanted to do red in Ron's office, but chickened out and went for brown instead. All of the bathrooms and my office have top down/ bottom up blinds- I love those. I still have some rooms downstairs, where I haven't decided what to do on the windows yet- but most of the upstairs is done. I also saved some cute little "Chinese stuff" for my office. I figured that was the only room where I would do "whatever" I wanted ;)

Museum, Cake, and Parade

Are you ready for some really exciting "stuff" here lately? Now...don't get to excited about our lifestyle here...after seeing what Bandera has to offer for entertainment. hehe

One of the things we did on Ron's birthday was go visit a museum that is here in Bandera.

They had some pretty interesting things there...for a museum ;)

Here is Ron's SMALL German chocolate birthday cake. (that is not a full size plate- it is salad plate size)

Last Saturday, Bandera had their annual Mardi Gras parade, down main street. Everyone takes their own chairs and sits on both sides of main street. We sat directly in front of the Court House.

I didn't get pictures of all the people in "strange" outfits, but I did get pictures of the "strange" things in the parade :)

While we were sitting there waiting for the parade to start (about an hour early)- we were watching all of the people in their Mardi Gras outfits, sitting behind their pickup trucks or on their motorcycles , having drinks, dancing in the street (there was country and western music playing), and gathering with friends- we wondered, "How did WE get here???" It's a very new lifestyle for us. But...all I know is that Ron's blood pressure is as low as it has ever been...there must be something about living here that agrees with him. lol

Noah, Chickens, and Valentines

Last week, I got my dining room all organized and pictures hung. Guess what the theme of that room is?
Noah's Ark ;)

My kitchen is still assorted "Chickens" :)

And for February...I put out some Valentine decor.
I don't have cute kids to take pictures of. I have to take pictures of cute STUFF. haha

I have been working on my office this week, but making slow progress there. I ordered window blinds from JCP this week. Custom window treatments were 30% off- then for using a JCP card, they gave me another 20% off. Yep...50% off- it was still a hefty price tag at that, for 18 windows. (Sad thing is, we have 28 windows, so I still have 10 more to go. Later)

Aspens in Texas

One of the things that happened when we decided to "retire" in Texas, was that I didn't get my yard full of aspen trees that I wanted. But thanks to one of my dear friends, I have aspens in my bedroom. This is the only aspen trees you will find in Texas :) She gave me this photo before we moved. I just got the mat for it yesterday- got it in the frame today- and Ron hung it for me.
