July 4th Part 2

 I did one post already about the fourth of July. Here are a few pics from Andersons adventure to Fredericksburg, and a picture of the best strawberry rhubarb pie ever. 😉😋 (HEB doesn't have fresh or frozen rhubarb... I finally found some frozen at Sprouts.) Here is how Audrey described their day-

We hosted a 4th breakfast with neighbors and friends. Sam did all the griddling. We did a pancake bar. It turned out really nice but we didn’t get a single picture. Then we went swimming with friends in our community pool. In the evening drove up to the Fredericksburg Farmers market and bought peaches and sourdough bread. We visited the waterwheel that the church funded to commemorate the Zodiac community that was settled be Lyman white and his followers. We ate schnitzel at a German restaurant and then watched the fireworks at Lady Bird Johnson park. Made for a late night driving back home. But boys still got up early for gymnastics today.

 Saturdays, must be good baptism days 😉Ashton was baptized on the 6th of July. Micah set up a zoom link, for those of us who couldn't attend in person. He was baptized along with another cute boy in their ward. Alison sent some great pics to us on GroupMe. The little rainbow baptism covenants card was part of Emmy's talk about baptism.

 This was the day that we took mom's name to the temple and Hailey did a baptism and confirmation for her. I have a plan to finish up the other ordinances in August and September. These first two are finished, and we believe that she now has the opportunity to accept or reject the ordinances. Daniel, Ashley, Hailey, and Mason met us at the temple. As well as Sam, Audrey, and Eli. We had some other family names to do baptisms for as well. We all went to lunch at Canes chicken afterward. 

Cast Your Bread

 Somewhere in the scriptures there is a verse about "cast your bread upon the waters". We recently did that with some new neighbors, in the house just west of us. The day that they were unloading the moving truck, we went over to meet them. Ron wanted to take a jar of my cranberry apple sauce over there. Which didn't seem like the best idea to me, considering that it needs to be refrigerated and we could see that their refrigerator was still sitting in the garage. 😉😝Thinking back on that day... I should have gone and picked up some sandwiches and chips and lunch stuff for them. Probably would have been more useful. Anyway... my apple sauce jar came back with roses in it. 😊So when you cast your bread, upon the waters, it returns buttered. 

Great to be Eight

 Ashton celebrated his 8th birthday. And his baptism is this coming Saturday, July 6. Such a cute kid! We don't see them often enough. Alison made an amazing "hamburger cake" for his birthday. And she got some amazing photos near the temple for his baptism announcement. (the Simms, Christiansen, and Thompson kids get a birthday card and money in the mail from us. Not very exciting, but consistent. Ashton was excited to get his... he already has something in mind to use the money for.)

Stuff from Annie

 I could tell that Annie has been getting caught up on her blog posts. I grabbed a few fun pics from her. Mostly from May and June...Jared's birthday, a haircut for Owen, mother's day, track pics, and a bike ride with Savannah. (the bike ride was just a couple of days ago.)

New York City

 While Ron and I have never gone to New York City... Andersons and Thompsons love it. Mike and Carrie recently spent about 4 days there, seeing shows and eating- lol 😉😎 The only other thing that I know about this trip was that it was the first time for Nick and Ryan to stay home alone that long.
