Graduation for Al

When all of the kids were at home and we would plan a vacation, I would always get stressed out trying to get everything ready to go. It seemed like my job was "everything"- from being sure that every ones clothes were ready, packing the bags, packing the food, being sure arrangements were made for taking care of the animals, cleaning the house, some times even packing the car (although Ron mostly did that one). When guys get ready for vacation, they just throw a few things into "one" bag and they are set. I still had to pack the clothes bag, the bathroom bag, the shoe bag, the hair accessories bag, the towel bag, the toy bag, the snack bag, etc. All of those bags that Ron used to hate putting into the car, unloading and reloading into the car :) Some how things are worse than normal traveling with 5 girls! Anyway... things are simpler now?! Right? The kids are all gone- just myself to pack for. The house still needs to be clean when I leave, but not much mess when 3 old people live here. (I love coming home to a clean house) My only complication now is the store! It takes mom and I several days to get it ready to leave for vacation. So, today is my day to get all of my personal packing and prep. done- tomorrow will be work and the last few arrangements for the store. By 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning, I will officially be on vacation. Little known fact, number 1, about our trip is A3 is graduating from Brigham Young University on Friday. We are so proud of her and her accomplishments. She didn't exactly get the fashion design degree that she started out with- but she will have a Bachelor of Science in Home and Family Living. The big plus of switching schools was, she also got her MRS degree. (Micah we love you too :) Because of going on a mission for 18 months and transferring from OSU to BYU, it took a bit longer for her to finish. But, she made it! Congrats. We love you. The picture is from her graduation from high school- soon we will have pictures from her graduation from college. (little known fact number 2- all of our kids and grand kids will be there except Alex, Nathan, and Jared. A1 is coming with just Owen) We are all looking forward to a "non wedding" get to gether :) Gotta go...lots to do today!

Happy A to A and A

Happy Anniversary to Alex and A1

Alex was telling us that he has been out of town for every Anniversary except two. Both of those years they were buying a condo or a house. At least he was there for the most important one, the wedding day :)

They Moved the Cheese

My store is closed on Sunday and Monday, but most Mondays, I am still there working. Last Monday, I was there making jackets. Today, I should have been there making skirts. Instead, I actually took the day off and stayed home most of the day. I also did alittle shopping at WalMart and at Randalls. Besides the fact that I needed a few things, I went to WalMart just to see how they have remodeled. I think I remember a book called, "Who Moved My Cheese?". That's exactly what happened at WalMart- everything got moved! Ron always hated going there because he could never find what he needed- now it will be totally hopeless! Anyway... back to my day off- I decided it's a good thing that I go to work everyday. Because today, I spent way too much time on this computer! My brain would be mush for sure, if I spent this much time at home every day.

PS- Speaking of items for sale...did you notice a new blog on my list? A friend in Dallas makes soap to sell. I wonder which is easier making jackets or making soap?

Live and Learn

We had fun! We spent time with WE and A2, but...

The first thing we learned this weekend was don't go to the famous "Schlitterbahn" water park on a Saturday, during the summer! Way too many people there! The wait-in-line-time for the "Master Blaster", the best water ride in the world (?) was at least 2 1/2 hours. (I am sure WE will have more to say about that :) Does standing in line all day count as quality time spent with the kids?

The second thing we learned... spend one night in a cheap Days Inn and the next night at the bed and breakfast means almost anything is good :)

Actually the bed and breakfast was good. I'm sure WE and A2 will agree, of course we gave them the room with the whirlpool hot tub in their own bathroom! (But they also said the bed was good) Breakfast was outside- made to order waffles, sausage, and juice. (Perfect... nothing with milk and one option was choc. chips in the waffles)
