The third week of February 2021, was super crazy for Texas!! (And also other parts of the country- but especially for Texas.) During the night of Sunday, February 14, it started snowing and getting very cold. We ended up getting about 3 inches of snow. Andersons power went off during that night. They stayed home during the day on Monday, but by Monday evening they came to our house. (Sam's mom, from St. George, was also here). The Petes had power until during the day on Tuesday, and then they lost it. To make a long story short, it was very cold until Friday. We also got a couple more rounds of snow. We were very blessed that we never lost power, water, or internet at our house. The Petes came over during the day on Wednesday and Thursday, but stayed at home during the night. Audrey kept teasing that we were having a giant sleep over for her birthday! Ironically... our problem was how to keep the downstairs kind of warm, while not "cooking" the upstairs. These houses in Texas are not built for cold weather and have very little insulation. So... we had fourteen people here, playing games, watching TV, charging their phones and devices, and basically just thankful for heat and water. Since the Andersons and the Petes brought food from their kitchens, we had plenty of food to feed everyone. Ashley did alot of cooking for everyone. The entire area around San Antonio and the Hill Country suffered greatly with power outages, water problems, and frozen pipes. Our second great blessing was that we weren't in Bridlegate now. The power was off there for about 40 hours, and then no water. Kerrville also got hit hard with power shortage, water problems, and freezing pipes. The building that we go to for church now, had frozen/broken water pipes and flooded. People were there most of the week trying to clean things up. Then, they shut off the water and power there, so they had to cancel church for today. (We were supposed to be the speakers for Sacrament meeting today.) Last Sunday evening we celebrated Valentines Day and two birthdays, at Andersons. I made Valentine cookies, a strawberry pie, and an apple raspberry pie. I have a few photos from that and then the rest are SNOW pics from last week. Sunday evening was our last normal evening... then things went crazy! On top of that, things warmed up pretty well yesterday and today. You wouldn't even know that all of that snow and cold misery even happened.
