I still didn't get to my cabinet painting this week. Still side tracked on other things. I feel like I "took a week off". I ended up doing a bunch of random stuff. I did a few more things with Ron, than normal. We booked a motel in Port Aransas, for our anniversary next month. We ordered Amazon cards with our Visa card points and we filed stuff from his desk. We also finalized our IRS taxes with the accountant. We end up with 0 income and 0 taxes 😉 My order of Aurora stuffed animals for Brown Baby Bird arrived. Now, on to new ideas for taggies. I ordered pink pigs, brown horses, blue dragons, white deer, penguins, and grey raccoons. I cheated on getting a white dishwasher and just covered the front with a sheet of white magnet... looks pretty good. Hopefully it will last until the dishwasher quits... then I will get a new white one. There were some wild flowers growing near our church building. I tried to go take pics one evening... but most of them were done blooming, or closed for the night. I will have to try again during the daytime. I have still been typing from old journals. I want to have that project done soon. Yesterday we went out to Bandera. I dropped off my property tax rendition, dropped off my rent check, and then we went to Hawkins house. They were having an afternoon open house, as a memorial for Vern. They were glad that we came. In the evening there was a ward barbeque dinner at the Talley building. So we stopped there on our way home. With the covid situation, it is slower than normal to meet other members of the ward. We are looking forward to "normal" again 😉

Side Tracked
My original plan for this past week was to paint kitchen and bathroom cabinets. That didn't happen 😉 For one thing Annie got me side tracked looking for old journals and personal history details for her. Our garage has plenty of boxes still there. Family history stuff and home decor stuff, including Christmas decorations. I was thinking that I would gradually go through the home decor boxes and move those to a closet upstairs. I did some of that this past week, but then I also opened each family history box, hunting for stuff for Annie. Most of those boxes stayed in the garage, but I found a few interesting items, like the journals that I tried to write in for each of the kids. I have been typing those into word documents. I have a plan 😉 I had actually given Audrey's notebook to her... hopefully I will get that back today. I will do another post later on details of "my plan".
Then I got side tracked on a few other projects. During the third week of February, when we had the bad snow storm and we had everyone here at our house during that week... a big Tiger puzzle got put together. The Pete kids were wanting to glue that together and frame it and keep it. It had been sitting on our guest bed, since February. Well... I glued it together and framed it this week.
I am always working on small decorative items, which is another "side track". Things are coming together pretty well. I have some more furniture that I would like to buy, for upstairs, but we are pretty "settled". In fact Ron mentioned that he thinks he could stay here for longer than he expected. What a change of attitude he has had during the past 3 years! I think, for one thing, he really appreciates our new financial situation 😉 I don't love our neighborhood or our yard... but I love being 10 minutes from almost everything.
My last side track this week... was trying to plan alittle anniversary weekend for Ron and I. "45" years deserves something...right? I didn't get anything planned yet. (I spent too much time typing this week.) I spent some time looking at accommodations in Corpus Christie... until my brain turned to mush- lol. 😝
Here are some "side tracked" pics- haha (The last pic is my nose. Remember I had to have mohs on my nose. It is not completely healed, but doing pretty well. Still some redness and one small brown spot.)

Favorite Family Pics March/April
I went out on Face Book and gathered up pics from the kids for March and April. Here are the best ones. (The Thompsons and the Simms got together a couple of times.)
Mishmash
mishmash
- the painting was just a mishmash of colors and abstract shapes as far as we could tell
Synonyms for mishmash
- I titled this post "Mishmash". What a strange word... but it describes my life right now ;) I don't like the part of the definition that says confused mess or unorganized... but the mixture of colors and abstract shapes and alphabet soup, is good ;)
- So this past month or so has been a mishmash for me. Doing the "Pete Projects", still unpacking and organizing at home. Intermixed with Ron's brother, John being in the hospital with covid, Sam being called as the bishop of their ward, a missing cat, having a cancer spot removed from my nose, Easter/General conference, wedding dress alterations, and new Brown Baby Bird merchandise.
- I just did another post showing the finished "Pete Projects".
- John has been in the hospital since about March 7... so about a month. He has been very sick ... on a ventilator for a couple of weeks. Still weak and confused and having some heart problems at this point. Our family has been continually praying for him.
- The Sunday before Easter, Ron and I spoke in our sacrament meeting and then we attended the Alamo Ranch ward, to be there as Sam was called and set apart to be the bishop.
- Kitty managed to get out of our yard and was missing for about 3 weeks. Very strange that we never saw her during the day time. She was seen on a video camera at our neighbors house during the night a couple of times. I had Ron open the back gate, in case she was out in the green belt. Then, one morning, there she was on one of the chairs on the back porch. We will never know exactly what happened.
- Sam came over and hung our down stairs TV on the wall. That looks much better than sitting on the cabinet... but now we have problems with it keeping a wifi connection.
- On Wednesday, March 31st, I went to a derm surgeon in San Antonio, to have a cancer spot removed from my nose. I wasn't super nervous about that, but it wasn't very fun- lol. That was about 10 days ago, and it seems to be doing pretty good. Mostly just really red skin at this point.
- We just stayed home all weekend for General conference/Easter. The Petes and the Andersons came for Easter dinner on Sunday evening. So my weekend was watching conference and cooking ;)
- I finished up alterations on a wedding gown for Lexi Barton, before my skin surgery. (also finished several bridesmaid dress hems)
- I worked at various times during the month on new Brown Baby Bird items. I also sent in an order for new Aurora stuffed animals. Hailey helped me to package up those items and I took those to The Shops of Bandera last Friday.
- I warned you that life has been a "mishmash"- lol. Here are some "mishmash" pics.
Finished Projects
Here are the pics of the finished "Pete Projects" at our house. I love the way they turned out. I still have a few little touch ups to do and then paint my bathroom and kitchen cabinets. But... Daniel is done at our house... at least for now ;)
