When It Rains, It Pours

I have been on a 3 month draught of not seeing any of the kids.
Now I get to see several of them within two weeks.

Ashley, Daniel, and their kids showed up last weekend. I will see Alison for a couple of days. Then Annie and her boys are coming for spring break, starting this Saturday. For Ashley and Daniel, it was just a quick weekend visit. Daniel gets free flights right now, and they took advantage of those. For the past couple of days I have been recleaning the house, changing bedding, sorting out toys, getting ready for the second round of grandsons. Annie, Nathan, Jared, and Owen will arrive here Saturday and stay for a week. Two of the activities planned will be the rodeo and the Rockets game.
Between now and then, I am flying to Las Vegas. Alison is meeting me there to go to a national Bridal Market. See when it rains, it pours. Either nothing going on- or everything going on :) Now if my sinus infection will just go away- things will be grand. (I went in yesterday and got the "miracle shot" of steroids)

Surprise Visit

We had a surprise visit from
"the princess p"-
oh yeah, and she brought her mom and dad and brother. It was a fun weekend. Nothing extraordinary, but just some family time. Fun to see some kids that we don't see very often.

For Lack of Anything Better...

here is just a "curiosity" post. I don't know very much about astrology, but just out of curiosity, it is fun to read sometimes. Under the regular astrology signs, I am a Virgo. Under the Chinese astrology signs I am a Monkey. When I read my yearly forecast for 2010 as a Virgo, it says some things like this-
"I should feel like an enormous burden is sliding off my shoulders- like I have been carrying around an over stuffed back pack for a couple of years. That would be Saturn moving out of my sign (whatever that means :) Congratulations, for making it through the past two years in more or less one piece. My ability to endure has served well for the past two years. New opportunities ahead for fun, recreation, and romance (look out Ron :) In my career, not so much good news but a release of tremendous pressure- having had no favors from Saturn or Pluto for the last two years (again, whatever that means :) Financial life should run far more smoothly than what I am used to. Perseverance rewarded in 2010." Doesn't sound too bad, maybe even a bit upbeat.
Okay... now my forecast for a Monkey, in the year of the Tiger-
"Every 12 years, the Tiger shows up to spoil my party. But still it is a "Metal" year, which means I'm in my element (and for the third time, whatever that means :) I should have 2 favorable months (man, I wish I knew which months those are!), 1 neutral month, and 9 unfavorable months. Income and expenses likely to be volatile and unpredictable."
Doesn't sound all that good.
I really need to do alittle more research to find out about Virgos, Monkeys, Tigers, Saturn, Pluto, and Metal. Plus I have heard that on the Chinese calendar there is a animal for each month, for each week, for each day etc. All of which affects your true forecast. haha
Here is how I think this boils down (especially for my career)- in the past two months I have had more income than for last year, for the same months (that's good), but my losses for the same months also far exceed last year. Go figure- must be a Virgo fortune messed up by a Monkey, under the influence of a Tiger. LOL And actually the Tiger year didn't kick in until February- January is always in the previous year, because the Chinese New Year falls in February. (not on Jan. 1) Every now and then I may bring you update on how this is working out for me. LOL

For Better or Worse

Okay, so I am "almost" well. I went back to work on Tuesday, which was not a pretty sight. (that is all I have to say about that :)
During some of my sleepless nights I had plenty of time to think about things. I also had several reminders, some subtle and some not so subtle, that there are people who have problems alot worse than mine. It is actually a good thing I didn't post anything right away- now you will get the condensed version rather than all of the ramblings. Do you remember when we all promised to love another person "for better or worse"- rich or poor- sick or healthy? Being sick definitely applies to the "worse" category. The amazing thing is that when we made that promise, none of us had any clue what we were promising! None of us knew what the journey ahead would hold. Illness is probably the most difficult trial of this mortal life. We all face it. There is no way to avoid it. Will it make us bitter or make us better? Two of my daughters were sick this past week also. So several of "the guys" had to put up with the bad hair, the sleepless nights, the grumpiness, the misery. Being sick definitely makes us appreciate being well. Ron and I are just hoping that we can both be loving and patient with each other as the course of life almost always ends in "old and sick". There has to be some divine purpose for that- it's just that what ever the reason is, it must be beyond our comprehension. I just read an article where a lady thought that if she endured well, that happiness would eventually come. As her trials progressed, she realized that she had to be "happy along the way"- instead of looking for happiness as an end result. Annie and I have a friend that is very good at that- I am hoping that I can be more like her!

Guess What?

I am contagious for the next 24 hours- now I have an eye infection. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse and in fact should be getting better! It amazes me to think that I am taking an antibiotic, mucinexD, and ibuprofen and still had a sleepless-with-severe-headache-night and now I have an eye infection. I told Ron the only good part of that was I now know that he doesn't have sleep apnea- he never stopped breathing during the night :) I am not posting anything else until I have "some thing nice to say".

Worn Out

Mom has got to be worn out- this is her fourth day in a row of working MY schedule at the store. And I am worn out from staying home in bed for four days. On Thursday afternoon, after being in bed for two days I decided to get up about 4 pm- take a shower- put on my "life is good" tshirt- fix dinner- and act like I would be able to go to work on Friday. Never mind! Instead, on Friday morning I went to the minute clinic at CVS to get antibiotics. Which means I could be taking antibiotics for a viral infection, but at least is seems to have helped alittle. Basically, I have THE WORST sinus infection, I have ever had. Oh wait a minute... there was one time when we lived in Aurora, where I had one so bad that I had to have my sinus' drained. That was definitely THE WORST EXPERIENCE of my life. So I guess this is second to that. Hopefully a couple more days of antibiotics will calm things done. So other than being in bed for 4 days and having no strength what so ever- life is good? :) My goal for today is to take another shower, get dressed, and go get a few groceries. Hopefully by Tuesday, I will be back to my regular work schedule and mom can have a few days off. I knew that on Wednesday and Thursday she would have help at the store. Friday was going to be problem getting any one else to work that day. I did manage to get one of the high school girls there by 1:30. (that was only because Friday was an early release day and she got of school at noon.) Today wasn't a problem, I always have extra help scheduled on Saturdays. Mom will need her Sabbath day of rest tomorrow though.

The problem with being sick...

Is being sick!
If I was going to take a couple days off work, there are a bazillon things I could be doing besides sleeping. ( besides... do you know how many wierd dreams you can have when you sleep that long? :)
